William MacLeod Raine was an American author who wrote classic adventure novels about the Wild West. The location is perfect for the twists and turns the plot takes. Some directions of the story line are predictable but a few are not. Through it all the self doubt of the primary characters give them depth many of the western historical fiction books lack.
