The Patchwork Girl of Oz

The Patchwork Girl is the seventh book of the Oz series, and one of the most delightful of the stories. It is about a Munchkin boy named Ojo and his patchwork doll named Scraps. The boy's Uncle Nunkie is under a spell that has turned him into a statue and the boy must find a cure to save him. Although Baum never intended to publish the story, it became necessary because of his pressing financial condition. It is a delightful read with the main character of the story being the Patchwork Girl who is a large stuffed doll that has come to life through the magic Powder of Life. She's very intelligent because her stuffing is taken in parts from the contents of all the bottles on the shelf labeled "Brain Furniture"
