Sigrid Undset (1882-1949) was a Norwegian writer who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1928. Her most famous work is the trilogy "Kristin Lavransdatter" about life in Norway during the middle ages. First published in 1922, " The Mistress of Husaby" is the second novel in the trilogy and continues the story of strong-willed heroine Kristin as she attempts to rebuild her life in the wake of the Black Death.
