After their defeat in southern Kentucky the barbarians have simply disappeared only, after fifty years, the war drums are beating loudly within the Caliphate. But life within the Association goes on. New settlements are created, trade is flourishing, roads are being built and the railroads are quickly following civilizations return. Then, after disappearing for years, the barbarian hordes launch a surprise attack on the very heartland of the Association that are coupled with major assaults on the outlying settlements. Settlements fall, the major industrial city of Forest in burning, and then Mother Nature adds to the devastation with wave after wave of deadly earthquakes that are caused by the continued slow slippage of the Earth's crust over the mantel. The proud Association is quickly brought to its knees as its major industries are destroyed and only the heroic efforts of the citizens and their military stand between the barbarians and their total destruction.
