Tales From The Dark Side
James Apps
A collection of short stories that ask the question 'What if?' when dealing with what should be normal situations, exploring what could go wrong, or twisting the normal to the paranormal. The author explores the cold mind of a professional assassin, attempts to explain the story of a Cornish tragedy, and delves into the mindset of a corrupt political regime. Some of the stories are inspired by news items gleaned from the news media, and others are simply asking the question 'what if' using the imagination to create a situation. If there are a number of stories with cats in them then that is because the author is a cat lover, and although the cats in the tales may seem evil at times then perhaps it is the people they are around that carry the evil with them. Cats are symbolic of the wild side of life, friendly when treated right but volatile when threatened. The author makes no excuses for the disturbing nature of some of the stories: it is the intention for the reader to feel satisfied that they have experienced something different and enjoyable.
