Doctor Michael Eisenstat of Beverly Hills, seeking adventure, moves with his wife, to West Africa. He joins the US Foreign Service taking a job with the American Embassy in Donoulu, Zinani, a nation controlled by a ruthless dictator. There, he and his small cadre of fellow diplomat, led by a hapless Ambassador, observe and become all too involved in a bloody coup d'etat.
About the author: Larry Hill, MD, is a retired internist who spent 18 years in private practice in rural Northern California, then sought adventure by moving to Mali, West African to serve as Medical Attache in the American Embassy. Subsequently, he held similar positions in Bangladesh, Philippines, South Africa and China. He has published a previous novel, Philanthropist, a thriller about crime and aging in his hometown, San Francisco. His only other published works are in medical journals. In retirement, he teaches medical students at his alma mater, University of California, San Francisco.
