Publisher Marketing: GC1: Rescued and Restored - Revised Translation We are not lost forever. We were not left on our own. We have a Rescuer Who will restore us to right relationships. Guided Conversations 1: The Story of How God Rescues and Restores His People will help local Haitian leaders and missionaries present God's plan for rescue and restoration. Its teachings are useful for both evangelism and discipleship. Guided Conversations 1 is interlinear, in Creole and English. Team written by a group of Haitian and Anglo church leaders, the text emphasizes the use of ORAL TEACHING STYLES. The book is intended to teach shepherd leaders, who then use oral presentations of this material to take people through a series of questions, discussions and readings to a point of decision. Will we benefit from the Grace of God? Will we embrace the blessing of rescue and restoration offered by God? Or will we choose instead to remain trapped in our sins? Created to be with God but separated from Him by our own sin, we now struggle to restore that lost relationship. But the efforts of humans are not adequate to the task. We are dead in our sins. All our self-directed efforts are fruitless. We cannot raise ourselves from death. Are we therefore lost forever? Have we been left on our own to fight a hopeless battle against overwhelming forces of darkness? Are we doomed to despair? NO. We have a magnificent hope: Thanks be to God Himself, we can share in the victory of Jesus Christ. We can be at peace in our neighborhoods, in our homes and in our hearts. By understanding better the character of God, we can hope for better tomorrows. When we grasp how wide and deep is the love God has for His people and His creation, we can trust Him to carry us through our troubles. Guided Conversations 1 has three parts. First, a section focused on the proper use of oral teaching techniques. Second, a series of seven lessons starting with our need for God, then helping us understand His plan for rescue and restoration, and finally leading us to the point of decision. Third is a presentation of the Bible verses cited in the text. May God bless you in your ministries with Haitians! Also available in electronic and audio formats. Contributor Bio:  Jameson, Rev Steven a In the Bible, God says through His prophet Isaiah, "My people will live in secure homes, in peaceful dwelling places, in quiet places of rest. Though hail flattens the forest and the city is leveled completely, how blessed you will be." Steve and Karen Jameson treasure that verse. As pastor of an urban core church, and as headmistress of a Christian day school, they both saw how important it was for the children of God to learn of, and to trust in, God's grace and comforting presence. Steve also saw that when he was an Infantry Captain in the U. S. Army and when he was working in a difficult corporate setting. Karen saw it when she was teaching at an affluent suburban school and in a rural high school. Both of them see the constant need for God's grace in their daily lives. Steve is an honor graduate of the ROTC program at the University of Arkansas, and was graduated with honors from both the University of Missouri Graduate School of Journalism and Covenant Theological Seminary. Karen is a graduate of Missouri State University with a lifetime teaching certificate valid in several states. Now based in Saint Louis, Missouri, they were missionaries in Nigeria with their 2 daughters, now grown. Their work has taken them to Haiti, the Caribbean, India, Africa and Asia. Steve likes Bob Dylan, and Karen pretends she does not. Erin Brown spent her childhood in Nigeria; she is a wife, step parent, and artist. After working as a business consultant in several countries, she now lives in Saint Louis, Missouri with her husband, her stepson, and her Havanese dogs.
