Baum used several pen names when writing different series. Dorothy meets some new friends in Ozma of Oz. There is the Hungry Tiger, whose appetite is never satisfied; Princess Langwidere, who has thirty heads; Billina, a talking chicken; and Tiktok, a mechanical man. After being blown overboard sailing with her uncle, Dorothy finds herself in Ev. She sets out with her friends to rescue the Queen of Ev and her ten children. The Queen and her family are imprisoned by the cruel Nome King. When Ozma, the Ruler of Oz, cannot save the Queen it falls to Dorothy to rescue everyone from terrible danger.
