Dr. Harvey and the 8 Fallacies of Distributed Computing
David Boike
A weathered old journal among a ramshackle collection of old antiques contained the stories of Dr. Harvey Fallacious, a 19th-century explorer and researcher, detailing his travels and explorations in remote, then-uncharted regions of South America. But hidden in this journal were stories related to the 8 Fallacies of Distributed Computing, which wouldn't even be officially coined by Peter Deutsch until 160 years later. Learn about the Fallacies of Distributed Computing, each with a light-hearted introduction from Dr. Harvey's journal. You'll learn why web services (including RESTful services) don't scale, and other mistakes you should avoid when designing distributed system architectures.
