Celebrate ancient and modern-day spiritual journeys for justice and wisdom. By spotlighting the narrative, artistic, and philosophic work of new Canadians and refugees attending a high school English Language Learners (ELL) program in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, this pedagogically-innovative children's book provides young readers with an innovative approach to philosophizing in the classroom. Plato's Myth of Er is made accessible for students through a rich, collaborative retelling of the original story, by students for students, which includes a diverse array of student artwork as well as the original Greek text with Stephanus numbers. The intent of this book is to inspire student-readers to take up philosophizing by considering the powerful connections that can be made between their own experiences and their own spiritual yearnings, and those detailed by Plato in his Republic some 2500 years ago.
