After his marriage breaks up and his wife runs off with another woman, Sasha Simonov quits his tenure track university position to grow pot in Northern California. Having never worked with his hands, he must learn how to survive on his own in the middle of a remote wilderness. The story is at once a voyage of personal transformation and a passionate embrace of a life in nature. Set in the early 1970's, On Grizzly Mountain recounts the early back-to-the-land cannabis growing scene when pot was illegal, but worth its weight in gold. It is a tale of self-discovery and spiritual awakening. After many months growing his crop surrounded by beauty, Sasha faces a choice between two women: the playful free loving Darlene or his grounded, self-sufficient friend and mentor, Miriam. But first he must face the possibility of losing everything.
