A neurosurgeon attempts a life-saving brain transplant surgery following an automobile accident that left the white, female driver brain dead and an African-American teenage boy with a destroyed body. While the boy is left with non-compliant motor nerve damage that requires lengthy rehabilitation, the surgery is viewed as triumphant.
