No one knew where it came from. No one knew what it could do. And, truth be told, no one cared. All that mattered was that it yielded the blueprints to a futuristic starship that would finally allow one small company of dreamers to reach out across the galaxy and venture into the unknown. Ten years later, the ship, the ASEA Nikhadakiera leaves the Solar System and sets off on Earth's first interstellar mission. Led by the intrepid but impulsive Commander John Vance, the crew consists mainly of self-taught novices who are instructed by their eccentric boss to "get as far out there" as they can. But a few hours into their journey, the ship is sucked into an anomaly in space and stranded in an unknown galaxy. Before they can even regain their balance, the crew becomes unwittingly tangled in a battle between two worlds, where they ultimately play a larger role than anyone expected. They had come to explore, but they end up fighting for their lives with no experience, no preparation, and no clue
