Offensive Films: Toward an Anthropology of "Cinema Vomitif"

The films examined in this work have been labelled "cinema vomitif" because of a tendency to induce a visceral response in their audience. Taking a serious look at a taboo subject, the author argues the films tell us much about the human condition, and are an important part of cinematic history.
