Michael Winner directs this 1970s Western starring Robert Ryan, Burt Lancaster and Lee J. Cobb. Marshal Jared Maddox (Lancaster) is a ruthless and dedicated lawman.
When a bunch of cowboys on a drunken shooting spree in the town of Bannock accidentally kill an old man, Maddox pursues them to the town of Sabbath, where the group's leader, Vincent Bronson (Cobb), appeals to Marshal Cotton Ryan (Ryan) for arbitration.
