Jose Antonio Abreu
Documentary about the Venezuelan music education programme El Sistema. Founded by José Antonio Abreu in 1975, the project aims to take disadvantaged children out of the country's slums and train them to play classical music as part of a symphony orchestra. Children have the opportunity of getting out of deprived areas that are often overrun with gangs and violence and are given the chance to study music and learn valuable life lessons about solidarity, harmony and compassion.
