THE TREEThe Tree is a fictional story about the tree that grows up to become the cross upon which Christ is crucified--the altar of God's sacrifice to redeem mankind. The story begins shortly before the birth of Christ, develops around events in the life of Christ, and concludes after His resurrection. The book personifies nature and focuses on a fictional community of trees in Biblical Palestine. The dialogue reflects the basic dilemma between creation, mankind, and the Creator. In this setting the trees respond to incidents in life, observe man's behavior toward the Creator, and ponder the Crucifixion. The trees interact with each other as they ponder their meaning and purpose of life. The personification of trees gives the reader a new vantage point in viewing the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the grace of God in the redemption of mankind.. Some things made of wood that are meaningful to mankind include: Noah's ark, the Ark of the Covenant, and the cross of the Son of God. Trees provide shade, shelter, timber for construction, fuel for cooking, fruit for food, furniture, firewood for heating, and many other things. Audiences of every age will enjoy this story. The dialogue is simple.
