The murder of Doctor Munroe is soon discovered and Sheriff Morgan begins his investigation. Anticipating his arrival at the homestead, Lizbet attempts to create the semblance of normality, though Clara is still greatly affected by what has occurred.

Meanwhile, Joshua heads north to seek out Benedict Farm in the hope of discovering Nettie's whereabouts and settling his past. Samuel has taken Lily to the Austins' farm for her own safety, but her stay promises to be less than hospitable.
