British Chess Masters Past and Present
Fred Reinfeld
A sparkling little anthology of great games by British Masters from 1821 to 1946, with full annotations. The games, most of them from international chess, have been selected to give a birds eye view, to provide a pleasing diversity of contents, style and opening. This is a collection of biographies and games by British chess players during the period 1821 to 1946. Many of these games show British players defeating world champions, such as the win by Conel Hugh O'Donel Alexander against Mikhail Botvinnik in 1946. It shows wins by British players against Morphy, Anderssen, Pillsbury, Winawer, Euwe, Tchigorin, Fine, Maroczy, Tartakover, Bogolyubov and others. All games are in descriptive notation and annotated by Fred Reinfeld.
