An Introduction to Numerology

From the moment we are born we are ruled by numbers.

Numbers rule the world!

Numbers hold society together.

The framework of a society is numbers- money and all finance, National Insurance No, Passport number, house number, telephone number, car number plate. All travel whether by boat, air or road, all have a number value which provides a framework of order that we can follow to reach our chosen destination. Health- blood pressure, pulse, temperature are all measured with a number value that we can all understand. The list is endless. If you spend a moment to make a list of your life and number influences I think you will be astonished.

I have been fascinated for a long time by numbers. The meaning of numbers, and the way numbers have influenced my life and others. For fun I work out the ruling number of each address I live at, my car number plates, my telephone numbers, and look for connections through them all.

My birth number is 4, and I have found that the number 4 has a significant place in my life. Generally, this can be how long I stay at a certain address before a move. How long I remain in a certain employment. The years in between changing my car, and my relationships have often been in multiples of 4 years also!

I sometimes reduce friends' names to one number, or work out the primary number of groups I belong to (if people are happy to share their birth date with me), and if you do this with your own family and friends you might be surprised by the commonality of numbers.

Numerology is a numerical system which symbolically represents human life. It was probably devised by Pythagoras the Greek philosopher (born 570BC), who discovered recurring traits in individuals who shared a 'Ruling number'. The ruling number is the date of birth reduced to one unit.

Of course, the most important number for every individual is their date of birth. This number affects so many areas of our lives- the year we start school, how old we were when we learnt to walk, to talk, and all the other landmarks of growing up and becoming an adult, puberty, marriage, work etc

Your date of birth, place and time of birth can be also be used to draw up an astrological chart, which also indicates important influences, movement of your life and character traits.

Even if you do not believe in astrology, your date of birth is critical in the science and system of numerology.
