Bloodwood: the Chronicles of Max Mayhem

All fifteen-year-old Max Mayhem wants to do is go to school, ride his skateboard and ignore the existence of the secret world, the Underverse. More importantly, he wants to tell his best friend, Lydia, how he feels about her. But one frosty December night, his dreams for normalcy go awry when he learns that his neighbor, Peter, is a vampire in need of help. Max soon finds himself on a dangerous hunt for Peter's missing girlfriend. The hunt leads both him and Lydia to a hidden town in northern Canada. As Max looks at the town's steep roofs and deserted streets, his instinct tells him that things are not what they seem. And when the sun goes down and cries begin echoing through the trees, Max realizes his gut was right. But it's too late. The sleepers in the woods are awake and they smell blood. Now, as darkness falls, finding the missing girl is the last thing on Max and Lydia's minds. And it will take everything they have to survive until sunrise.
