Born in Bessemer, Alabama, Dr. Hale now resides near Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife of 26 years. Hale has two children, and four grandchildren. He completed his doctorate degree in Educational Leadership in 1999 from Vanderbilt University. Previously, Dr. Hale also earned a B. S. He has served as teacher, coach, middle school and high school principal, and superintendent, before returning to the classroom as a fourth grade teacher for students with special needs. Most recently, Dr. Hale played the role of Judge Fort, in an independent fi lm based in Birmingham, Alabama, about the story and case of Edwin Stevenson and Father James Coyle, who was defended by Hugo Black, then a highly sought defense attorney, who later became a U. S. Senator from Alabama, and eventually was appointed the U. S. Supreme Court. Hale grew up in a small community of Hopewell, Alabama, just a few miles outside Bessemer. He attended small schools, lived and worked in a small community, and grew up cheering for the University of Alabama and Bear Bryant. His rural community roots served him well with this book, Shake Those Golden Jugs!
